I have sowen Frostline Kits in the 70's and they have went out of business, and others have tried to keep it going and have not been able to make it go. There are other Kit builders in Oregon, and Washington, but not like that quality of frostline from what I read on another site. They still have the materials and others have bulk DOWN. but not in the triditional Frostline Kit Tube bags pre-sized. But, keep looking there still out there. I did not see any Mittens Kits, but look an see if at "Joanne's" for patterns. I built a 5 man Tent in the 70's that was from scratch. Then I came across Frostline an bought a Rain Parka Kit from there outlet store in Sacramento, CA but its been gone for 20 years now. i then customized it by getting "Goretex" fabric
from REI to give it more charactor, from just Navy Blue, to pockets in Tan, with Yellow Velcro, to see it better in bad weather. I used regular Coats & Clark thread that has held up for 35+ years now. I make all my own back-packing gear for Climbing, Biking, as well. I like to design an change my gear as I look at all the stuff in the stores and add features that they don't have, I combine features from different gear into one item with all the good stuff on it. I have 3 machines to do my designing with. However back then I had a 6010 basic Viking to make everything on. and it did just fine, then 4 years it gave up the ghost. So you don't need a fancy machine just one to learn on. and have fun with it. Eat some Chocolate an get sewing !!!

I made quite a few of the kits including bike paniers, two sleeping bags (my husband lost one which I remind him of all the time), robe, slippers, gloves and coats. I made my husband a coat about 30 years ago and he is still wearing it and there is very little wear to it-and he wears his clothes hard! Every once in a while I look to see if the company has come alive again. The clothing is of such superior quality that they literally last for years.

I made numerous Frostline kits in the late 70s and mid 80s. I kept my husband and 3 daughters in down vests and down parkas. I made mittens, down booties, and ski pants. I even made the largest tent they offered, and 2 of the coldest rating sleeping bags. The tent and sleeping bags are still in use. My husband and I still wear the heavy down parkas while spending time at my families hunting camp in interior Alaska where winter temperatures reach -40 on a regular basis. Now that I have a granddaughter I really wish Frostline was still in business. The only thing I ever disliked about the kits was "searing" the rip stop nylon on the candle or other source of flame. Many burnt fingers happened.
