More than a theory: Between the Sheets Bakery and Treats || A gift for Mom

Handmade edible flowers taste like sugar.

Cake: For me, it’s a theory thing. I like the idea of cake. It’s necessary at celebrations; weddings, office parties, and this past weekend, mom’s birthday. But for the most part, cake doesn’t do much for me. Not a health nut by any means, I just am not such a sweet-tooth. But dammit if I didn’t indulge in a confection from Denver-based, Between the Sheets Bakery, to help ring in another year on this planet with family a few days back.

Almost too pretty to cut. Almost.

I put in a call to the lady behind the treats, Jennifer, told her of the upcoming birthday festivities, and a week later, this piece of art, really, was delivered unto me, and then to my fam. Everything one it, all the flowers, were created by hand by one person which is staggering to me. That and the fact that when I initially recruited Jennifer for this project, she asked a slew of questions about my mom, from her favorite colors to flavors, etc. I liked this as it showed she actually gave a care about what she does and who she does it for versus calling up say, DQ or a local grocer and getting some sheet cake with paper frosting. This cake is legit. And the best is: Jennifer is local. Between the Sheets Bakery is one woman in her kitchen cranking out cakes and sweets like nobody’s business for amazing prices for any and all occasions. And, while I always find this sentiment cliche, you really can taste the dedication and passion in the output. My folks told me after the family devoured the cake that BtS will now be their go-to place for all things treat-related.

I’ve even inked Jennifer to make my wedding cake. Which now means I have the cake, the location, the music, the attire, my guest list, AND the food menu picked out… Now I need to take care of that pesky, “find a girl,” detail…

Daaaamn.

Damn Will, that cake looks good. I am with you on finding a great cake maker. The local baker that did our wedding cake now does all of our birthday cakes and she never disappoints.

Words cannot describe my absolute gratitude for such a great blog, kind words about my confections, and the flattery! I was so happy to do this for your family-and this write-up means the world to me…I’m framing it!

    xoxo,
    Jen
