One of life’s simple pleasure, that ends up for some people being a huge ado but for me remains something calm, is brunch. I have two go-to places for the meal, mainly based on the fact that one has margs for $2.50 and screwdrivers for $1.50 and the other because they have a $2 DIY bloody Mary bar. Two dollars. Two bucks for a glass of vodka and ice to which you can fill with accouterments and tomato juice to your liking. But I’m getting beside myself…
Anyway, my buddy, Aaron, and the only kid I can talk to in the Denver about selvedge denim, Horween, clothes in general, etc, and I have taken to making the Hornet our go-to place for brunch. While most of our time spent is talking girls and clothes, this past weekend, we started getting details down for our roadtrip to Kansas City to visit the Baldwin Denim cast and crew. Alright, I know I never champion a company unless having prior experience with them, but I am making an exception here for a number of reasons.
One) Aaron and I are planning our roadtrip out there to see the operation once we can ink a three-day weekend that works for the both of us.
Two) Even after an initial “maybe” mention, I had a few guys from Baldwin emailing about how stoked they were for us to not only come see the facilities but to take us our for some beers and BBQ. I’ve never had the honor of KC BBQ, so I am excited.
Three) Selvedge denim…..
Four) While I cannot wear the KC hat (above) in Kansas City, as it’s the equivalent of wearing the shirt of the band you’re going to see in some ways, the simplicity of it and it coming from a company full of, what I have gathered thus far, good people, would look choice on the streets of Denver.
It is for these reasons and the fact that I need new jeans and a vacation and a road trip and, well, just a little relaxation and some decent ‘Q that April (our projected goal to depart, will be a month for the books.
Updates to come as the time draws near….
In the meantime, check out Baldwin’s blog and enjoy these shot of sexy legs in good denim…
… because what’s sexier than girls in nice jeans?

Two places you should check out while you’re in kc.
#1- the peanut — the best wings you’ll ever eat. They serve them full sized and sizzling, you’ll dream about them when you get back to Denver. No other wings will compare.
#2- The mutual musician’s foundation —- where are you going to go after the bars close??? How about down to 18th and vine to listen to jazz musicians jam until 6 in the morning. Great atmosphere and the only place I know in kc where you can get a beer at 5 am.
I *hate* shopping for jeans, but those might be worth it – you’re right – they’re stunning!
